Work continues on unabated on the NFP application from my earlier rough sketch. The general framework of using WordPress as CMS and then adding in the NFP functionality as a plug-in is working out although there was the usual one week “I want to rip my hair out” period when I really had to dig deep to understand how to get the plug-in working fully. With that hurdle surmounted fingers type joyfully and the mind wanders to finish putting the basic user frame work into place.
Currently, outside the CMS, there are only two main pieces to this application:
- Charting Page – displays the users current chart made up of individual cycles (i.e., rows) and cells (day biomarkers comprised of a stamp cell and VDRS cell).
- Biomarker Page – this is the data entry form where end users select the date, stamp, VDRS, etc …
Eventually, there will be need for an options page and probably some sort of toolbar on the chart page to aid with more complicated tasks (e.g., deleting a range of biomarkers, insert biomarker between two other biomarkers, etc …).
Below are screen shots of the Chart and Biomarker pages. Both are functional, but incomplete – especially the Chart page. I am not crazy about how the Biomarker page looks, but my goal was to be faithful to the paper method which did not transfer to the web well. The overall width of the Biomarker screen is too wide and the VDRS section should probably be re-factored into mostly select boxes with drop down selections to trim the overall look. I’ll get some user input in the future on where to go if there is interest.
My short term plan it to get a working version online by early August so I can get feedback from “real” users to see if there is any future for this application.
