Joe Crotty lives, prays and works in Denver, CO with his wife, Heather, and two cats, W and Tuni. This site serves as a broadcast platform for my persuit of computer science problems and forays into all facets of mountaineering. Further, as a test bed for a broad assortment of web based ideas.

The categories presented in the menu can be confusing. There is an old saying in climbing circles, “fire or retire”. To “fire” is to climb the terrain you are on successfully usually with a degree of abandon to personal injury. To “retire” is to back off and retreat from a climb - live to fight another day. Posts filed under fire are climbing related. Those filed under retire are athletic posts unrelated to climbing (e.g., mountain biking, weight lifting, etc…).
